Kindness Is….

Kindness and consideration for others is the essence of etiquette. It is being kind without expectation of gratitude or reward. It is being kind without the knowledge of others (a lesson from my mother). It is being kind when it doesn’t fit your schedule.

What is kindness to you? Care to share some examples?

Here’s a recent act of kindness by my husband.

This little fella is heading the wrong direction and into trouble.

Being transported home to his creek in a Home Depot bucket. How appropriate!

Now this seems like the right place.

I think Stephen’s gesture would be in the Good Samaritan category as well, Suzanne.

  2. Yes indeed Karen. And how often do you get to carry a turtle in a bucket as well? 🙂

  3. Last year my group of Sparks (the youngest Girl Guide members) drew happy faces on 100 rocks, which they left on window sills, desk tops and computer keyboards throughout the school where we meet. Each smiling rock sat on a note which said, “This is a happy rock, I left it to say, put a smile on your face, and have a happy day!”

The next morning (and many more, it was reported) was the start of the smiley collection…the rocks became treasures – excited students and teachers took to finding the treasures!

You know a kind deed has been done, when one of your own Sparks reports back that she giggled when her teacher found the rocks and thought the fairies had come to the classroom. Ahhh, the joy of being 6.
