You Can Tell A Lot About A Person By….

There are a couple of statements I believe to be quite revealing about a person:

You can tell a lot about a person by:

  1. …the way they treat the waitstaff.  If someone isn’t nice, polite to their server then I question how truly nice they are.
  2. …their shoes. I’m not talking Christian Louboutin here. I’m referring to the state of their shoes. Clean shoes (unless they have just tramped through a Canadian winter to your office) indicate care in self.
  3. …(with credit to Maya Angelou) the way they handle tangled Christmas tree lights. Life is full of tangled lights. Patience? Anger? Throw away?

Here is a Suzanne original. You can tell a lot about a person by….

…what they have beside their favourite, go-to, comfy, curl-up in, chair. We all have one. For some it’s a recliner. For others a love seat with cozy comforter. Whatever it is there is usually something beside it.

…a stack of magazines

… a pile of well-thumbed cookbooks

…a knitting basket

…a secret place to hide the remote control from others

…a wine glass and a plate of cracker crumbs

…binoculars to keep an eye on the goings on across the road

…a slab of dark chocolate carefully metered daily (OK, I confess to this one)

But here is my favourite. It’s beside my brother-in-law’s favourite chair, next to his sliding patio door.IMG_0704uca_1

The peanuts aren’t for him. They’re for the wildlife that routinely come to his deck and wait.

Yes, you can tell a lot about a person by what they keep beside their favourite chair.

Share with us what you keep beside yours.

  1. Karen Hull says:

At the moment my comfy “chair” (really it’s the sofa) side table holds: 3 remotes, a short stack of my favourite cook books, and a small bag of Nuts Over Sesame Snack Mix from the Bulk Barn. This should tell you that I love to cook/drool over cookbooks, eat weird snacks, and I am incapable of making the universal remote truly universal.

  2. I don’t have a comfy chair..I have a comfy sofa and a coffee table with the flyers for the week, wierd me 🙂

Thanks Suzanne……Yes, I love and appreciate all of nature’s critters…the nice thing is that I know you do too, and the pleasure they give back to us makes it all worthwhile. Just part of the joy we receive from some of God’s marvelous creations.

    Thanks for sharing….
